Whack Job of the Week

Nancy Pelosi… no wait…

Ah Geez… take a look at this guy too…
Robert Gates
hoping it will eat him last.”
I’ve often written about this pacifist concept of appeasement.
The idea that you can negotiate with, or even try and have an honest agree-to-disagree conversation with Evil personified… and then actually expect anything lasting and/or peaceful to come from it… this idea, is recklessly dangerous and horribly frightening.
The road to hell, so they say, is paved with good intentions. I completely understand why Jimmy Carter and Cindy Sheehan believe their actions are made with good intentions. I however, completely disagree with their intentions, and their actions.
To the sort of Evil we face as a nation, today in the here and now, negotiation appears as a weakness, to be taken advantage of in any respect. They sit at the table and speak of peace and compromise… and then they leave the meeting and go to an organized, behind-closed-mosque-doors rally of Islamic extremists who are screaming and chanting… Death to Israel, Death to America.
Oh Darby… you’re nothing more than an extremist yourself… all you Americans… so arrogant. Yeah… but I’m not chopping off heads in the name of my God. Matter of fact… my god, whose name shall remain nameless, would not approve of the outright deliberate slaughter of innocent people. And he certainly wouldn’t approve if I strapped a bomb on one of my children and sent them into my enemy’s camp. That would be Evil.
But I digress…
President Bush today, nominated a man for Secretary of Defense whose ideas on dealing with Islamic Fascists on the other hand are a stark contrast to outgoing Donald Rumsfeld.
Rummy had been in for six years, he made some points and won some games… but he also made some colossal mistakes in Iraq… his time had come. But the man I voted into the Whitehouse is now almost seem to be reversing his own Bush Doctrine of preemptive strikes against those who mean us destruction. He’s nominated Robert Gates, current president of Texas A&M University and former head of the CIA.
Gates served 26 years in the Central Intelligence Agency, working his way right up the ladder. Under President George H.W. Bush, he served as Director of Central Intelligence, and was on the National Security Council. After leaving the CIA, he wrote his memoirs. became president of Texas A&M, and was a member of several corporate boards.
It should be noted that due to his senior status in the CIA, Gates was close to many figures who played significant roles in the Iran-Contra Affair and was in a position to have known of their activities. He was supposedly a strict bearuecrat who looked the other way when certain things went on around him. The evidence developed by Independent Counsel did not warrant indictment of Gates for his Iran-Contra activities or his responses to official inquiries.
Gates served as a member of the bipartisan commission headed by James A. Baker III, the Iraq Study Group, that has studied the Iraq campaign. He was also the first pick to head the Department of Homeland Security when it was created following the attacks on 9/11.
Especially noteworthy is a report on U.S. policy toward Iran that Gates co-authored in July of 2004 with Zbigniew Brzezinski, a onetime national security advisor to Jimmy Carter and, more recently, a foreign policy advisor to John Kerry’s presidential campaign.
The Report Entitled Iran: Time for a New Approach…
The report reads like a study in self-contradiction.
Conceding that Iran has used “Iraqi instability for its own political gain,” the report concludes, “Iran nevertheless could play a potentially significant role in promoting a stable, pluralistic government in Baghdad.” Noting that “Iranian foreign policy remains captive of the regime’s official enshrinement of anti-American and anti-Israeli ideology,” the authors nonetheless attribute strained U.S.-Iranian relations to the Bush administration’s decision to include Iran in the “Axis of Evil,” lamenting that this “undercut several months of tacit cooperation between Washington and Tehran.”
The undeniable fact of “Iranian incitement of virulent anti-Israeli sentiment” guides the authors to the non sequitur that “Arab-Israeli peace is central to eventually stemming the tide of extremism in the region.”
From the fact that Iran has been a far from reliable negotiating partner, and that it has failed to “cooperate adequately with the IAEA’s investigation into its nuclear program,” the authors conclude that the answer is…MORE “constructive dialogue” on the nuclear issue. That Iran has been a perennial source of regional instability prompts the authors to recommend that it would be in the “interests of the United States to engage selectively with Iran to promote regional stability.” And so on.
Central to the report is the fatalist assumption that the United States is powerless to prevent an Iranian nuclear program and that the only solution is to submit to “dialogue” with the oppressive anti-American mullahs.
These types of weak arguments have long been advanced by the so-called “realist” school of foreign policy, of which Gates is a.
In the 1990s, these arguments formed the ideological basis of the Clinton administration’s misnamed “Agreed Framework” with North Korea. Jimmy Carter had gone to North Korea without any sort of consent or agreement with the President Clinton… he struck up a deal with the lunatic Communist in charge… the little gargoyle, and Clinton was forced to carry thru with it.
In exchange for giving up its ground-floor nuclear weapons program, the reasoning went, North Korea would receive diplomatic recognition and other concessions, which was basically about a billion or so in “aid” money… as well technology enabling them to create nuclear power.
Reality proved less obliging. And typical of an evil little dictator not to keep his word… North Korea did not live up to its end of the bargain, accelerated its weapons program unbeknownst to many.
Last month’s nuclear weapon test by North Korea should wake you up and allow you to see the logical conclusion of a decade of misguided pacifist policy.
Amazingly still, Gates regards the Clinton approach as the perfect model for dealing with Iran.
At a July 2004 briefing on the Iran report, Gates explained the kind of discussions the U.S. should seek with Tehran: “In my view, my personal view, it's very similar to the kinds of discussions that have been going on with North Korea in the respect of more for more”
Asked whether his report might be used for political purposes, Gates responded in the affirmative: “Oh, I have no doubt that various pieces of the report will be used by a variety of people,” he said.
The danger may be that one of those people is Gates himself – no longer a foreign policy theoretician laboring on the sidelines but, pending confirmation by the Senate, this appeaser may very well be the man in charge of American defense.
That’s whack.

And oh yes.
I just can’t resist… just a little bit of Pelosi… on the CBS Evening News with Katie ‘Third-Place’ Couric…
A giddy, captivated Katie wondered aloud… "A lot has been made of the fact that you, if elected, and it appears that you will be, that you will be the first woman Speaker of the House and the highest ranking woman in the United States government. What does that mean to you?"
And the exhalted Madame Speaker replied: "It's pretty exciting, I have to say. I'm just so excited that a Democrat will be Speaker of the House."
To which Katie schmoozed: "So you're a Democrat first, a woman second?"
Matters not what color you are, matters not your gender or sexual preference… the Liberals support diversity… as long as you are Liberal.
If your a black female conservative like Secretary of State Rice, your just a slave who does what massa’ Bush wants… if you’re a black conservative male running as a Republican like Michael Steel, well you’re just an Oreo or an Uncle Tom… if you’re a gay Republican male who’s made some really bad choices and made some very bad mistakes, like Mark Foley, you’re a predator pedophile who’s been stalking and preying on children for years with consent from the Republican Party.
Diversity ends for the Liberals if you’re not a Liberal. They buy votes with race, gender, age, and class warfare tactics. It’s all about power. And the retention of the power by hardcore, left-wing, fundamentalist, neo-Hippies… the Liberal Democrats.
