Troop of the Week

Lieutenant Colonel Oliver (Ollie) North USMC, RET.

Colonel Oliver North was born on October 7th, 1943 in San Antonia, Texas. Joined the league of the finest American badasses called the United States Marine Corps.  He valiantly served his country for 22 years.  During his service to America his career consisted of secrecy with partnerships in the CIA, USMC, Reagan Administration, DoD, and many other countries and terrorist nations.  Many liberals call Ollie, Reagan's handyman, or a liar, convict or felon.

Colonel North's military career was overshadowed by the Iran-Contra Affair.  To break it down barney style for you, my wonderful audience.  The Iran-Contra Affair consisted of Ollie being the middle man for the Reagan's Administration.  During 1986 (height of the Iraq/Iran War), American troops and civilians were taken hostage in Tehran, Iran at the U.S. Embassy and Lebanon.  The Jimmy Carter administration had no luck in getting our hostages back and when it seemed inevitable that Hezzbolah (Irans  puppets) would give back our people, Ronald Reagan took other means to get them back.  This is where Ollie came in, he brokered a deal with Hezzbolah (Iran) to trade U.S. Military weapons for our hostages and an amount of cash to financially provide the Rebels (Contras) of Nicaragua (Sandinistas) to overthrow there Fascist government.  This is what got Ollie in trouble, U.S. policy at that time (Boland Amendment) states the American government cannot support any nation, group, or faction to overthrow a current government.  Then of course he lied about ever doing it to cover his rectum during the Senate Hearings.  However, just ask Terry Anderson (held captive 2,545 days) if Ollie and Ronald Reagan shouldn't be commended for doing something covertly because they acted on the hand that was dealt to them.

The Senate considered Ollie's actions perjury and he was arraigned and convicted.  Ollie didn't serve any jail time for his actions, because he was a proponent of the Reagan Administration he did say his actions were sanctioned by this same administration.  Due to Ollie's testimony and the revealing a named terrorist (Abu-Nidal) at the Senate hearing his family and him were put on a terrorist hit-list.

After the Iran-Conta Affair settled down, Ollie decided to run for the U.S. Senate of Virginia.  The night before the election, Mrs. Reagan made a public interview that Ollie's actions during the Iran-Conta Affair was done solely by him and President Reagan didn't have anything to do with it.  He lost that election and went on to do many other things.

Ollie went on to write and author many books:  Under Fire, One More Mission, War Stories-Operation Iraqi Freedom; and two novels: Mission Compromised and The Jericho Sanction. All of his books are New York Times' best-sellers.

Ollie currently acts a military/conservative analyst on the Fox News.  He acclaimed world wide attention as a journalist in-bedded with the U.S. Marines in Iraqi Freedom on the Fox News Channel. He also is a close friend and analyst for the Hannity Talk Radio Show.

One of Oliver North's greatest accomplishments is founding a charity organization called the Freedom Alliance.  He currently serves as the Chairman of the Board.  This charity donates 100% of donations to sons and daughters of fallen military men and women and provides them with college scholarships.  This is also Patriotic Thunders charity.  We at Patriotic Thunder salute his military service and think he is a Great American for bringing home our men and women that were illegally captured.  Sometimes being politically correct may have its consequences but by far everyone in our great nation would find Oliver North at the top of the there "American Hero" list.
