Troop of the Week

TROOP OF THE YEAR
Christmas 2006
If you’re reading this, and you’re wearing an American military uniform… Army, Navy, Air-Force, Coast Guard, National Guard or Marine…
YOU

Have been chosen as the PATRIOTIC THUNDER, Troop of the Year.
YOU hold the future of America’s Liberty in your hands…
WE support, respect and honor YOU.

Right now there are over 144,000 troops in Iraq… 39,000 in Afghanistan, and nearly 400,000 uniforms representing our nation, around the world. Time Magazine honored you in 2003, but what have they done for you since then…? Only spit on you any time they get the chance… like the anti-war nuts in the 60’s and 70’s when the confused, brave men came back from their call of duty in Vietnam, only to be treated like the enemy.
Time Magazine chose those of us who use new forms of informative media as their Person-of-the-Year… and then talked about how they could have blamed all kinds of people for the violence in Iraq (meaning President Bush) and the on-going-never-ending conflict between Israel and Islamic Fascists (also Bush’s fault) and then they complained that global warming hadn’t been, “fixed,” by anyone yet either.
Idiots.
Patriotic Thunder honors those who have chosen one of the most selfless paths any American can take. They’re walking through a world of ultra-violent-religious fanatics who want nothing more than to destroy anything American or Western… to free a population of people who have been living in the stone-age for so long, most of them probably can’t even grasp the fact that we’re there to help.
The American soldiers, airmen, sailors, and Marines who are literally defending our nation… thousands of miles away… so that we don’t have to deal with them on our own soil. They’re keeping the Al-Qaeda-whack-job-muslim freaks from coming here and wreaking unholy havoc on our soil. With the work they’re doing on the Iraqi and Afghanistan battle-fronts… they’re preventing the enemy from harming Americans at home.
Unfortunately… there are many in our own American family… in our own country… who seem to be working against the efforts to retain our nation and our way of life. There are those in our very government… with their own words… working against the American military and their efforts to keep us safe. The idiot anti-American anti-capitalism blame-America for everything crowd who call our troops stupid and unqualified… they don’t deserve the freedoms YOU fight for. They deserve to live under the tyranny of socialist leaders and the dictators they love to love. The Jane Fonda types… those who profit off the system they preach and work against.
Patriotic Thunder salutes and honors those who fight for freedom right now. As this is read by anyone… there are those in uniform, fighting, sweating, toiling, bleeding and dying for us. Right now.
And right now in D.C. the civilian politicos who run our government aren’t allowing YOU to fight the fight that needs to be fought. Let the military get the job DONE… so they can come home with honor. Secure the borders in both countries… and march inward to victory… stomping and slaughtering every goddamn insurgent-terrorist-Islamic-fascist in your path. Get the job done and come home safe.
We honor YOU at this time of holiday celebration. Our prayers are with you. Come home safe.
And lest we forget the heroes…

From Kansas…

Navy Reserve Captain Matthew C. Gratton
While serving as the battalion surgeon for a Marine unit from January to September 2005 in the Al Anbar province of Iraq, Dr. Gratton was responsible for the health and well-being of 1,700 Marines, sailors and Iraqi soldiers. During his deployment, Gratton provided specialized medical care to more than 1,000 patients, and organized material and personnel support for more than 500 Iraqi army personnel. On May 7 alone, he supervised and treated 11 casualties injured in an IED attack in Haditha. In addition, Gratton provided trauma care to the battalion’s 345 troops wounded in action, 150 of whom were in critical condition and had to be evacuated. On Aug. 28, 2006, Gratton received the Bronze Star Medal for his work.

From Rob’s home state of Michigan…

Navy
Petty Officer 2nd Class Alan P. Dementer
Petty Officer Dementer was assigned to a group of Marines near An Nasariyah, Iraq, when insurgents attacked his unit’s command headquarters on March 26, 2003. Wounded by shrapnel and dodging heavy enemy fire, Dementer moved to another part of the compound where a group of Marines were pinned down. He proceeded over a wall to reach six wounded Marines and provided life-saving emergency treatment. After Dementer stabilized them, he directed and helped move the wounded to the compound’s battle aid station. His actions led to the safe evacuation of 31 injured Marines. Dementer was awarded the Bronze Star with Combat “V” on Feb. 23, 2004.

And from Darby’s home state of Arizona

Arizona Army
National Guard
Sgt. 1st Class Kevin Carpenter
Then-Staff Sgt. Carpenter and his squad were in a convoy performing reconnaissance and surveillance patrols on Oct. 6, 2005, when the lead vehicle was hit. Carpenter sectioned off the area around the damaged vehicle, which had veered off the road and crashed into a building. Unable to reach his headquarters on the vehicle’s radio, Carpenter called in the situation using his cell phone. He directed the pickup and transport of the injured soldiers, and also led his team to extract the wounded and dead from the disabled vehicle. His immediate response saved the lives of two severely injured soldiers. For his actions and leadership, Carpenter received the Bronze Star Medal in August 2006.

And please go see the 50 heroes for 50 states…
Our prayers are with every uniform.
Godspeed.
