Why Do The Troops Fight For Us?BOTH WINNERS HAVE BEEN SELECTED
Our troops fight for us because they are a very special breed of men and woman. They fight for our freedom as has been done for hundreds of years past. They put their own lives on hold, join the armed forces and go to foreign soil to see that we stay safe here at home. Their bravery and steadfastness shine through every day. It is not political to them, it is a job that has to be done to keep this great nation save from harm and terrorism. Why do our troops fight for us? Because they love this nation and its people, because they are brave, loyal and ready to defend. Karen J.
Karen J. hails from Michigan and a mother of a Iraq Veteran and a Desert Storm Veteran and a loving wife to a Vietnam Veteran. Thank you Karen for your words about out our troops, we will be sending your book out to you ASAP.
THE OTHER WINNER HAS BEEN SELECTED
Growing up I was always taught that people are equal, right from wrong (which later I found could always be debatable), and which parent to go to when I wanted "my answer." I was also taught that we have an amazing country and we are lucky enough to have men and women who are willing to put their lives on the line to fight for our nation. My grandfather fought in WWII and was stationed in Germany. He was lucky enough to meet my grandmother, Friedel, there and brought her back to the states
after making her an honest woman. I love that story. I know it was so much harder than that and there was so much pain that they both went through, but overall it gives me a sense of hope. Hope that good things come from unhappy times like war.Wars are not meant to make people feel good. It seems that the media has really gone all out and made this war seem inappropriate. Inappropriate that so many women and children were brutalized? Inappropriate that one man could
lead a nation to believing that America is evil personified and use his people for his own gain? Inappropriate that we would help a nation that needed us most and has since made significant strides in democracy? What is so sad to me is that so many of the men and women that are serving our country that are stationed in Iraq and A-stan feel it too. They feel this disdain people have for the war. They are constantly reaching out to people - asking if what they are doing is supported. Being apart of Soldiers' Angels
has really opened my eyes to so many things. That a soldier even has to ask me for some kind words! Unfathomable. Or for a letter or card... anything... so they know that someone out there cares. The troops fight for us because no one else will. We can thank them for all the freedoms we enjoy. People seem to forget that the men and women who serve our country are not only fighting a war but they are constantly fighting against people who want to do us harm. No matter where they are from. Whether it be a terrorist group or not... they are still protecting us from harm. This
amazing group will do what it takes, make sacrifices we are not willing to make, just so that we can go to sleep at night knowing that we will wake up in the morning. Why do the troops fight for us? I believe it’s because they believe in America. They are certainly stronger than you and I. We’re big talkers in America. I don’t think anyone would disagree with that. The troops are willing to back it up. They are the backbone of this country. Without them we are nothing.
